WAVERLY, IOWA (November 20, 2012) – First National Bank is announcing a special event to help the Northeast Iowa Food Bank restock it’s shelves this winter called “Rock the Bank.”   Saturday, December 8th from 9 pm until midnight, the public is invited to Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly to hear the music of local band, Redline.  The cost of admission is non-perishable food items which will be donated to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. "No one, especially a child, should go hungry.  Most of us have access to good food, and we don’t think about where our next meal will come from,” said Christa Leary, Marketing Director at First National Bank. “Taking part in an event like this feels good knowing we are helping meet the needs of the hungry and the world's increasing demand for food."  The most needed items are peanut butter, canned fruit, boxed meals, canned meat, canned vegetables and soup.  The general public is encouraged to come help celebrate the season with Redline and give back to a great community cause. “We at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank are fortunate to be able to partner with so many great companies, like First National Bank. The need for food assistance is high during this time of year and First National Bank understands that and is willing to do their part to help,” Barbara Prather, Executive Director. The mission of the Northeast Iowa Food Bank is to provide nutritious food and grocery products to nonprofit organizations and individuals in Northeast Iowa, while offering hunger education programs to the community and those in need.
